Demo by @pulpdrewOTel metrics table primary key optimization
Demo by @knudttyMetricName now uses LowCardinality, which is fine unless you’re dealing with an enormous number of distinct metric names. Even then, it should only become a concern at the extremes. Timestamps move from DateTime64 with nanosecond precision to plain DateTime with second precision, which is plenty for metrics. You can still keep nanosecond precision by changing the schema yourself.
We also added explicit min/max indexes for time and replaced the full attributes map in the primary key with a hash. The same changes have been applied across all of the metric table schemas, and we’re upstreaming them to the OTel Collector as well.
